England's captain, David Beckham, has admitted that the confidence is low at Manchester United, but strongly denies the claims that he is saving his best performances for internationals games.
As United have uncharacteristically slumped to eighth place in the Premiership, Beckham and his England colleagues at Old Trafford have come in for criticism suggesting that their first priority is with their country.

But the midfielder says such claims are nonsense, and insists that the Uniteds¡¯ renowned siege mentality will see them through their current low.
"Since the England game, the England lads have been getting stick saying we only do it in the England games," , Beckham said, "That's part and parcel of being at Man United. People love to criticise Manchester United because they are the biggest club¡±.
"Obviously there have been problems, but we're a strong team with strong players and we will get through it between us.
"People have been trying to pinpoint what's wrong. Everybody has been coming out in the papers and saying things, but the only people who knows is us and it's up to us to get ourselves out of it."
