▶ Chinese Cheer Squad Heats Up Stadium for Incheon Friendly

Incheon, April 27 (Yonhap) -- Two hundreds of Chinese 'Chiumi' soccer worshippers were seldom dispirited Saturday by South Korea's 'Red Devils' who turned the stand at Incheon's Munhak World Cup Stadium red with their hot red uniforms during a friendly match.
The Chinese cheer squad, together with some 400 Chinese residents in Korea, took up one corner of the stand enthusiastically waving the Chinese national flag.
Chiumis' chanting in unison of 'Fighting the Chinese team' almost defeated the cheering of Korean fans, who repeatedly chanted 'Korea.'
The Chinese cheer squad employed small gongs, one of Korea's traditional percussion instruments, and dummies of white dragons to boost morale of the Chinese soccer players.
A Chiumi proudly said that thanks to the cheer squad's passionate cheering, the Chinese team held a goalless draw with South Korea, thwarting expectations over Korea's victory against them.
China, which will make the first appearance in the World Cup finals, hopes it will advance to the second round of the finals. China have been drawn in Group C of the finals with Brazil, Turkey and Costa Rica.
South Korean tourist officials expect as many as 100,000 Chinese fans will visit Korea to watch the Chinese team's play during the finals scheduled for May 31-June 30.
