▶ Korean Consulate in Los Angeles Hoists World Cup Banner

Los Angeles, April 5 (Yonhap) -- The South Korean Consulate General in Los Angeles put out a large banner Friday to promote the World Cup finals among the Korean community there and the city's mainstream residents.
The 7.2-meter wide, 6-meters long banner reads 'Dynamic Korea, Welcomes the World'.
Consul General Sung Jung-gyong said in an address that the consulate decided to raise the banner to stoke World Cup fever in Los Angeles.
'Our people's active participation and support will be needed for Korea to emerge a global player through the successful co-hosting of the world soccer event,' said Sung.
Ha Gi-hwan, head of the Korean Resident Association in Los Angeles, said, 'With only two months left before the soccer match, we will make every effort to mobilize as many tourist as possible for the event which will eventually contribute to the Korean economy.'
Korea and Japan co-host Asia's first World Cup May 31-June 30.
