The Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, has dismissed the claims that Roy Keane is suffering from a serious knee injury as well as a hamstring problem.

The Reports says that Keane was to undergo a scan on possible knee ligament damage that could rule him out of the rest of United's season and the World Cup 2002. But Alex Ferguson rejected the claim, insisting: "It's a hamstring injury, not a knee injury. If we get to the Champions League final on 15 May Roy will play." Roy Keane's agent, Michael Kennedy, also insisted Keane would be able to play in the World Cup, which begins at the end of May: "Roy told me on his return from Spain that he is confident that he will be available for the World Cup finals."
After The Champions League Match against Deportivo, which Keane was injusred at, Sir Alex Ferguson said Keane had a hamstring injury which would rule him out of action for up to six weeks. But after all, it was then suggested he also had a knee problem which was potentially more serious. He was scheduled to return to the hospital on Friday and the club should know the extent of the damage at the weekend. | |
