¢º Portugal Stay in Group D Race with 4-0 Win over Poland

Jeonju, June 10 (Yonhap) -- Portugal came back on track in their World Cup campaign by beating Poland 4-0 in their second Group D match at Jeonju World Cup Stadium on Monday.
The victory came through Pauleta's brilliant hat trick and a second-half Rui Costa goal amidst heavy rain.
Pauleta's opener came in the 14th minute when he fired an impeccable 20-meter shot low past Polish goalie Jerzy Dudek at his near post.
The Girondins Bordeaux striker slid his second goal in from a Figo cross in the 64th minute, followed by his third in the 77th minute. Rui Costa drove Portugal's fourth goal home in the 88th minute from a Capucho cross, sealing the match.
After Monday's Group D matches, Portugal trailed co-hosts South Korea and the United States with one point down, while Poland was eliminated from the race for the second round.
The four teams in Group D will have their final first-round matches Friday evening, when Portugal face South Korea and Poland take on face the United States.
