Seoul, March 26 (Yonhap) -- Rudi Voeller, head coach of Germany's national football team, said the World Cup preliminary match between Korea and Poland would likely result in a draw, according to the Daily Sports newspaper Tuesday.
The paper said that Voeller, answering questions raised by Korean reporters in Germany, highlighted Poland's strong defense and traditional physical style, which, allied to a distinct height advantage, would present a significant test for Korea.
On the other hand, Korea would benefit from playing on home soil and that home support should act as a powerful equalizer, he said.
The German coach predicted a 1-1 draw for the match that the two teams are scheduled to have June 4 in Busan.
Voeller went on to say that Germany would soon recapture its form in time for the Group E matches with Saudi Arabia, Ireland and Cameroon this summer. He also emphasized the competitiveness at the highest level and cautioned that while Germany were favorites to win the group, Cameroon, the winners of the African Nations Cup, would present a strong challenge, as will Ireland, which edged past the Netherlands to make it to the World Cup finals.
