¢º Fluminense, Inter and Dortmund rally for first wins [2025/06/22   ]

A day of inspired fightbacks at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025¢â saw Borussia Dortmund, FC Internazionale Milano and Fluminense FC all record their first victories of the tournament, while CA River Plate and CF Monterrey battled to a 0-0 draw.

The defeats were especially costly for Urawa Red Diamonds and Ulsan HD, who were eliminated from contention of advancing to the Round of 16.

River Plate remain top of Group E on goal difference over Inter and will take on the Italian side on Wednesday 25 June in the teams' group stage finale in Seattle. Monterrey, two points behind in third, will meet Urawa Reds in Los Angeles.

Fluminense are level with Dortmund on four points and lead Group F on goal difference. In third with three points are Mamelodi Sundowns FC, who will face Fluminense on 25 June in Miami. Dortmund will finish the group stage against Ulsan in Cincinnati.

Mamelodi Sundowns FC 3-4 Borussia Dortmund

Group F
TQL Stadium, Cincinnati

Lucas Ribeiro's 11th-minute goal gave Mamelodi Sundowns the shock early advantage, but Borussia Dortmund responded with three first-half goals to take control. The Bundesliga side ended up bagging the three points thanks to Khuliso Mudau's own goal in the 59th minute.

FC Internazionale Milano 2-1 Urawa Red Diamonds

Group E
Lumen Field, Seattle

Urawa Reds were dreaming of an historic win after taking a shock lead with Ryoma Watanabe's 11th-minute goal, but Internazionale scored twice late on to break the hearts of the Japanese side. Lautaro Martinez equalised in the 78th minute, and Valentin Carboni won it in stoppage time for Inter, who had a tournament-high possession rate of 82 per cent.

Fluminense FC 4-2 Ulsan HD

Group F
MetLife Stadium, New York New Jersey

In one of the most entertaining matches of the competition, Fluminense were forced to fight their way back against gritty Ulsan. CA River Plate 0-0 CF Monterrey
